Let me see if I understand this. Pro bono lawyers , huge government subsidies for newcomers and rent that is far below the average Toronto rent.

These tenants have not paid rent for almost two years. The landlord is trying to improve the structure and services of the building. One example the article gives is the increase for a two bedroom went from 1350$ to 1600$ a month. That’s hugely below the average rent for a two bedroom. Am I missing something? They leave their country to come here and expect everything to be paid for them both from the public dime (taxpayers money) AND the private sector. ? Sorry.

There is sympathy and then there is reality.
