This is why we are working hard to make Airbnb illegal. I own a house with three apartments (I live in one of them) most of the time they are vacant. Landlords (the title says it all) are considered greedy them without a heart. Once you hand over the key you are screwed. One of the biggest reasons of apartment shortages is people have vacant apartments they no longer are willing to rent out or they go with Airbnb, because Airbnb pays for damages and go after the renter.
